Thursday Thunk 8.14 Letter To Me

This week we will answer:

There's no question to answer this week. This week you are going to write a letter to yourself... The idea came from Brad Paisley's song "A Letter to Me" where, in the song, he wrote a letter to his 17 year old self. You can pick the self you want to write to... 18, 15, 12... whatever! Be creative!

********************************************************************************

I have been thinking about this on and off all week. It isn't as easy as it first seems. But here goes:

Dear Me,

Listen up! You're good at that. Everyone always comments on how quiet you are. Don't stress about it. You will eventually find your voice. The first thing I want to tell you is...I'm sorry but your parents never get any better. Only worse. But the flip side of that is it will bring you and Heather closer. You might not get along now but you will. Once she moves out you will figure out that you do really like hanging out with your sister. And SURPRISE!! She really likes hanging out with you!!! There will come a day when you are the best of friends. Don't roll your eyes at me!

Now for the rest- DO NOT let Heather talk you into helping sneak John P. into the house every night for 2 weeks! Not a good situation at all! You are only in Jr high. Life is going to come at you fast in a few years. Enjoy being a kid now while you can still get away with stuff. Don't spend all your time in your room reading.

Next year you are going to go to a really cool school. Don't take advantage of it though. Go to class!! Don't let yourself be talked into spending hours and hours at Bridgeman's and Baker's Square. Do everything you can to finish school. I know you are going to start having self esteem problems soon. But I am here to tell you, you are going to be fine. You don't need to hide in corners. People like you for who you are. Don't stress over things you can't control.

When you are 16 you will meet a guy named John. You'll have a lot of Johns in your life....get used to it now. DON'T ask him out!! If you wait 2 minutes he will ask you!! Don't be so rigid with him, loosen up. He might not seem like it but he's a pretty cool guy. Despite what everyone thinks and says about you, you will stay together. Even when John is being the worlds biggest schmuck...he will get over himself eventually.

One of the best things you can do for yourself is get a job as soon as you can!! Get some skills. Doesn't matter what, just SOMETHING. It's better then nothing. There will be a time you are at your gramma's and you would rather be at home so you can see John. You will have John for the rest of your life. Spend the time with your gramma!! She is not going to be around for too much longer. Go see her whenever you can!

When you are 17, the day you are going to get your yearbook, wear your seatbelt!!!! And ask John if he's ok when you call him. Tell him he needs to insist on a lawyer!

Learn to love the word "serenity". You are going to have about 5 years where it seems like nothing can go right. One big thing after another. Don't wish for them never to happen. Pray for the strength to get THROUGH them. They will help mold you into someone you never thought you could become.

I can't stress enough the fact that you shouldn't hold back. Speak your mind when it is important. Don't worry about seeming like you're a pushy broad. That is where you want to be! Better to be a Bitch then a doormat!

In all I wouldn't change much...just speak up! It IS important. YOU are important. Don't let anyone make you feel otherwise.

It does get better.

Butterfly kisses- Jen

P.S. Smack Jessie in the head and tell her the baby is Derek's!
